Extending the lens barely adds to it diminutive. The 40mm lens is reasonable, not quite up to Rollei 35 level, but sharp enough and with fair contrast. The Petri Color 35 achieves a good portion of its compactness by having a partially collapsible 40mm f/2.8 lens. That said, everything else is quick to adjust, and there's no need to remove the camera from your eye at all. It's slow to wind out the lens, so don't expect to get that grab shot, and focussing is not the quickest, either. Set the aperture, from f2.8 to 22, and the shutter speed from 1/15 to 1/250 plus B and the match needle will swing into action, but only if the film has been wound on. Petri Color 35 proved to be a compelent compact. About two months ago, I picked up a Petri Color 35 black body off eBay. Keep winding the focussing wheel and you'll notice a mark moving in the viewfinder, showing the focussing distance in metres and feet, together with a brightline frame and parallax marks. The CdS meter hides within the filter ring, so no need to worry about using filters. Now press the shutter release and bingo, it works.
There are no clicks for setting the apeture. It has a 40 2/8 lens, apeture control from 2.8 to 22, and shutter speed control. Really nice condition EX to EX +, and it came with it's leather softcase. Wind on, press the shutter release and … nothing happens. So, open the back and slide it off, fold down the pressure plate, insert a film, fold up the pressure plate and replace the back. The bottom plate has a slightly off-centre tripod socket, rewind release button, lever to open the back and four dinky little feet to stop the plate from getting scratched.
